Yesterday we had a really nice taster class for kids ages 7 to 10 years old.

We had three wonderful artistic girls visiting us. It was a real pleasure to work with them :)
At first we explored India Ink. It is also known under the name Chinese Ink. It's a black permanent ink which is a lot of fun to work with!
The girls used a round brush, a bamboo stick (!) and Q-tips to create lines of different shape and thickness, they also mixed ink with water to create interesting effects.

After getting used to this media they were asked to draw an ocean animal or fish (with the help of photo-references) in black ink. Then they waited for the ink to dry and added color in watercolor. We also used some pastels and a bit of salt for texture (ocean is salty, you know). Look at the beautiful masterpieces!

Katerina also drew an octopus (but she is in different age group, so it would be in a different set of images), then she couldn't stop and drew another fish when everybody left. She was enjoying it so much that I got jealous and also drew a fish :) So now you have a bunch of pictures to look at :)
